Hi Sisters,
I landed a job as a Personal Care Taker with a home health care agency. The pay isn’t great, but I thought I would enjoy helping seniors with their routine activities. The job isn’t rocket science- and there is no medical care involved. It’s more or less help with housekeeping tasks, errands and companionship.
There are a few things that are bugging me about the new position. I’m not sure if they are “normal” concerns- or if my intuition is telling me something I need to listen to.
1. Part of the job requires that I drive the client in my car for appointments, shopping and outings. This makes me uneasy since the clients will be elderly. I am concerned about clients falling and liability in case of an accident. The company says it has liability insurance for transporting clients in my car, but they did not elaborate.
2. I will have to change diapers for clients with incontinence and help clients shower. The agency says it will train me to do these tasks, but I am feeling uncomfortable about them.
Should I hang on to my crappy Walmart job……until a better job comes along? I am torn because I will have to give my crappy Walmart job 2 weeks notice. But…I’m not feeling very comfortable with the personal care assistant job I just landed. I am so sick of job hunting and I dread having to go to Walmart.
As desperate as I am to get out of Walmart- I don’t want to swap a pot for a kettle.
Any advice would be gratefully received and appreciated.
