I’ve been really ill the past two weeks. For the first 5 days I had horrible body aches I couldn’t eat at all and drink very little. Then the body aches went away and I had profound weakness and fatigue which last until about 2 days ago. I’ve lost 15 pounds in the past 2 weeks. I went to my Drs nurse practitioner and found out I have a UTI infection and was put on a strong antibiotic . I’ve taken it 2 days and am able to eat and drink more however I’m only at about 50%.

Can a bladder iinfection make you feel this sick?

I’m one of those who’ve had frequent UTIs all my life–probably because I was married to cheaters. I’ve been that sick a few times, when the infection got into my kidneys. Once had to be hospitalised for days, a couple of ER visits. Horrible.

Nap, I’m so sorry you are sick.

Another frequent UTI sufferer (am on antibiotics right now, in fact). YES, they can make you that sick and can be fatal if backed up to your kidneys and left untreated. Sounds like your UTI traveled into your kidneys. But typically you would also have urination symptoms (pain, burning, low flow), low back pain (were those your aches?), fever, nausea and chills.

Did they do a urine culture?

Hope you feel better very soon.

I’ve never had one, NAP, so I can’t say. But I am sorry that you are not feeling well. It sounds like you are responding to the antibiotics. Is this the same illness that your ex came over and took care of you?

    Take care of yourself, NAP.

Make sure you drink plenty of water.

Thanks. They did a Urinary analysis and the nurse that called said that there were lots of bacteria. My body aches were head to toe, muscles, bone, joint, shin, I even felt like my hair hurt, never felt anything like that before. I never lose my appetite and I still don’t have one. The thought of food makes me nauseated. I’m drinking lots of Gatorade. The medication she put me on is Cipro. 2 tablets a day for 5 days. Ugh!!!! Im not a good sick person. I had no idea it could make a person so sick.

Yes Teri he helped me for 5 days then he stopped. I was too weak to get my own stuff however I did manage to drive myself to my appt and it wore me out. I slept 5 hrs when I got home.

Whenever it’s gotten into my kidneys, they’ve always given me at least a shot, and sometimes IV antibiotics, before sending me home with the oral meds. And, yes, everything hurt and I could barely move.

How long would you be sick for March? I hope Cipro takes care of it. Thanks for the info it’s really helpful.

I’ll usually feel much better after a few days on the meds, but a couple of weeks to get back to normal.

I hope you feel back to normal soon NAP. Your UTI went systemic instead of remaining localized within the bladder. It can become quite nasty. Good thing you saw a doctor and got the antibiotics.

If I were near you I would come and make you my favorite chicken soup. Sending you big hugs. ~ JoAnn

Take it very easy Nap. The worst thing is over doing it, before your body is ready. Be gentle with yourself a bit longer. I wish I could be a traveling nurse, to come take care of you gals when you are not feeling well. Can you tell I am an empty nester? Needing to be needed? Feel better soon sweet Nap and continue to force fluids.

Thank you Trish. One time you offered to be my mom because ‘I didn’t have one’ and I said “yes”. You’re a great Mom.

Definitely sounds like a kidney infection. You are on the right course of treatment for the worst of the bugs (E-coli, which is what often causes these).

I have to go to work Mommy for 4 hrs I just sit at a table waiting for people to come in to see the house. Yesterday no one came. Is that too much? If I don’t work I don’t get paid and I need the money.

Yep, I had never had a UTI or anything like that, first 6 months with my ex I had 2 yeast infections and 2 UTIs, one that got into my kidneys and had me hospitalized less than 2 weeks before our wedding. He told me that when we started dating I told him I always got stuff like that…What?! No f*ing way.

SO sorry you’re sick my dear Nappy. 🙁 Been there, done that with the UTI’s. After the very FIRST time I had sex with my MFPOS SA, I immediately got a UTI that moved into my kidneys – I ended up in the hospital on IV’s for a few days. Sick as a motherfucking dog. As I recall, he didn’t even know I was sick as he hadn’t called the morning after or the morning after that to say thanks for a nice evening or the great fuck. I ran into him later in the week at Walgreen’s where I was picking up my meds and told him about my little ordeal. He asked me out again. Pathetic idiot loser that I was, I said yes. God for a Do Over.

    Oh Nappy,
I sure hope you are feeling better soon. I’ve had those infections and they are no fun. They can make you really sick, just as you described. Take good care, girl and listen to your new Mommy!
    Much love, Claire

Glad you are on the meds and the road to recovering, NAP. Yep, UTIs have a wide range of symptoms, especially when they start moving into the kidneys. I am so sorry you have been through so much, just glad you got it checked out before the infection got worse.

This seems to be something quite a few of us experienced early on with our SA’s, is that the case with most men or do you ladies think this is because of their “activities” for the most part? I had never had that kind of stuff from a new partner before…

Well, they certainly have a wide range of “exposures” that would make every kind of sexual complication more likely. This is so depressing. The priceless sacred intimacy of marriage become a smoking gun in the hands of a reckless, remorseless men.

Can someone please stop the world and let me off?

    Well put Lynn…interesting.
