the news is certainly depressing these days isn’t it? With rape drugs being used in the middle east to a foreign money manager raping chamber maid(s) (common’ we KNOW that this one incident is just the tip of the ewww…sorry) and now our “terminator” is a SEX ADDICT??? who actually fathered a child with a longtime employee of theirs– OVER TEN YEARS AGO??? How gross is that! On top of it, Maria confessed that she’s been miserable for years with his “womanizing” (aka: SEX ADDICTION) and his ignoring her. Sound familiar??? Maybe she will find us??? God grant her the strength to dump him.
I still can’t get over that that hypocritical whore, Eliot Spitzer, less than three years later after his corrupt infidelities came to light, has his own friggin TV SHOW. WTF??? I can’t bare to watch him or listen to his arrogant prick voice. The dude make my skin crawl.

Oh yes…i totally agree. I remember a story coming out years ago with an allegation of him grabbing a miss america or something; but some how that got brushed under the rug. and now this. The poor thing. As hard as we have it the whole public is witnessing this drama. Cut and run maria….she is related to the Kennedies ( i think she would be ex president JFK’s neice)…she does not need arnold.
How funny…I was thinking this morning about Arnold…A.S….(ass?!), and whether there was an appropriate place to post thoughts here. I was thinking how nice (although unlikely) it would be if Maria found us. What another horrible layer the celebrity aspect adds to this whole mess. The only bright light is that every time we hear SA associated with a celeb, maybe some more news stories/talk shows will come out about the subject, and bring it more out in the open. My blood pressure goes up so high every time I hear someone say “there’s no such thing as sex addiction; it’s just someone who wants a lot of sex, etc.” And as angry as I am at my SA, I still have no doubt there’s something called sex addiction. I couldn’t believe Elliot Spitzer’s wife had stayed with him at the time, and now look–here I am (at least for now). I guess it’s true what they say about walking in someone else’s shoes…
Yes Zumbagirl, when these stories surface in the press I always hope that there are those who recognise themselves in the drama somewhere and realize that they either need help or that they are one of those who have been used as a body for a sick man’s addiction. In addition to grief for the spouses anguish, I also feel hopeful that this exploding syndrome is being illuminated for all to see. The ignorant comments are to be expected, but it’s progress still.

When a man uses his power to obtain sex from a subordinate I have a lot of compassion for the woman. Both cases, especially DSK’s, appear to be criminal events and perpetrated on multiple victims. Arnold may very well be the same. There is no schaden freude and there are more victims than are sometimes evident.
Just have to vent here: as part of Arnold’s statement, he asked the press to RESPECT his wife and kids. Um Arnold, maybe YOU should have done that, and then you wouldn’t need to make such a request. Grrrrr….
Asister, there are exceptions in cases of rape, of course, or exploitation of a womans financial vulnerability, but I cannot give a woman an automatic pass simply because she is in a subordinate position. Sooo often they seek attention from these men and make themselves available to them.
Maria, like all of us, simply deserved better.
No one likes to be in this club. And no amount of family origin, celebrity or wealth diminishes the betrayal, the shock, the loss.
One news item said that Maria, on hearing the news that Arnold had had an affair with a household staff member and fathered a child with her, was “inconsolable”.
When I heard that, I knew exactly what it meant. Inconsolable.
