Hi girls,
I am feeling very down the last couple of days and as i sit alone at home i decided to make something to eat that makes me feel cozy. I rarely cook when my kids are gone so this is a red letter night! Maybe we can share some foods that make us feel good…things we like that make us feel warm and fuzzy. Here’s one of mine. It’s super simple but warm and yummy-
Brown spaghetti noodles (maybe 8oz) in oil until they’re golden and some may get pretty brown. Add a large can of tomato sauce and 1-2 cans of water. Let it simmer until the noodles are cooked. Add salt and lots of pepper if you like it kind of spicy. Serve it up and eat it piping hot!

Yep, the kind you add butter, milk, and the packet of dry cheese….. I can (and have) eaten a whole box myself! Gulp!

August 18, 2012 at 4:39 am #48313joannParticipantLynn, that sounds heavenly. I’m getting some tomorrow.
Bev, ditto on the potato salad, mine has mayo and sour cream.
I adore green olives. I could eat a bucket of them, especially those giant pitted ones stuffed with blue cheese.
August 18, 2012 at 4:45 am #48314silver-liningParticipantJoAnn!!!!! Green olives is practically a raw veggie!!!
Good thing you threw in the part about the cream cheese!!!
August 18, 2012 at 7:01 am #48315jos1972ParticipantBananas…

August 18, 2012 at 12:53 pm #48318daisy1962MemberI’m with Bev in carb hell – mashed potatoes and gravy (homemade, never out of a box – my Grandmas would rise up from the dead and slap me), Stouffers mac & cheese (5 minutes in the microwave for cheesy carb heaven), followed in no particular order by virtually any type of potato or pasta. I told you – carb hell. Oh and fried green tomatoes! We can sliced green tomatoes every summer so we have them year round.
August 18, 2012 at 12:55 pm #48319daisy1962MemberJules, I’m definitely going to try yours (more carbs!!) it sounds absolutely delicious. If it wasn’t 9 AM I’d be making it now.
August 18, 2012 at 4:45 pm #48320napParticipantJules,
Neat post! I love this and super easy. Peel a banana, run a layer of whipped cream from a can (Redi Whip) along the whole curve and length of the banana, then sprinkle with nuts. I get the chopped sundae nuts. Mmmmmm……August 18, 2012 at 9:29 pm #48321julesParticipantI’m on board with all these suggestions!
August 18, 2012 at 9:32 pm #48322jos1972ParticipantPot luck supper?

🙂August 18, 2012 at 10:39 pm #48325julesParticipantMy fave wine is pinot noir in the winter and sauvignon blanc (especially from australia, marlborough region) in the summer…try kim crawford. Yum yum!!
August 18, 2012 at 10:44 pm #48326daisy1962MemberI’m having grilled eggplant (from my garden) with mozarella, a tomato salad and a glass of pinot grigio for dinner tonight. Bev, the tomato is raw the but eggplant is cooked so don’t stangle me, okay?! : )
