    Denial

    It wasn’t true
    that seems unreal
    Shouldn’t I doubt
    what I feel?

    That can’t be so
    it was a mistake
    It’s my fault
    I’ll hesitate

    I misunderstood
    I’ll be okay
    He didn’t mean it
    really that way

    Denial protects us
    from what is real
    It’s too painful
    to really feel

    To know the one
    we love so well
    would put us through
    all this hell.
