Addiction or not, the big question is: does the treatment model work? I think it’s pretty clear that it does not. So that certainly calls into question the diagnosis. But it DEFINITELY means- you need to find another treatment.
This reminds me of all the efforts that the schools put into defining giftedness- which totally distracts them from actually implementing a program that adequately serves gifted students. I’m sure there are plenty of other examples.
