    Well, the doctor’s office called.

They want to prescribe Effexor and Xanax.

Never heard of Effexor, so I googled it and there are all kinds of warnings about its side effects and even an online petition.

Not sure I want to take something like that for my once-a-week heart rate issues. Xanax makes more sense to me.

So my plan is to not even pick up the Effexor from the pharmacy, just the Xanax.

I used Effexor twelve years ago before the divorce and it really made a difference. I had no issues with it working.

Does your heart rate stay consistently above 100
Teri or does it return to the normal range? Do you know the name of your arrythmia? How is your blood pressure ? I’m really concerned for you.
    Love, Nap

NAP, I feel fine almost all the time. My blood pressure is low normal 90/60. My resting heart rate is usually around 70 bpm. They said that my heart rate stayed consistently around 80 bpm during the day. Just the one spike when I had my coparenting meeting. And I am sure that it spikes whenever I have contact with dr. evil which now is only once per week.

The only arrythmias that I have now are PVCs and PACs (palpitations) which are fine as long as I am not having too many, and they said my numbers there are fine.

So I am fine 99.9% of the time now that we have visitation only once per week and coparenting is once per month. Which is why I think full time meds is overkill.

    Thanks for your concern, NAP.

Thanks for explaining it for me Teri. I thought your HR was staying above 100 all the time. I hope the anti anxiety med helps you.

I have found Xanex makes me sleepy and then agitated when it wears off – I have used low dose Diazepam (old fashioned valium) but only whn I have been racing and sine I have been out of the house since September things are pretty calm – your elevated heart rate definitely sounds situational and related to adrenaline and cortisol dumping due to stress – every moment with Dr. Evil is a threat to your survival that is what your body does when it is in survival mode. There is a very detrimental effect to your cardiac health over time – I can’t see why you wouldn’t get a doctor’s note – you always seem to be fighting a fucking uphill battle – maybe you should find a job in Boston and get Bat early admission to MIT on a scholarship and that would get rid of the fucker – Meg

Effexor actually works well for many of my clients – especially is monitored closely – you need a conservative and astute psychiatrist – I am not very supportive of primary care docs prescribing psychotropic meds – just my opinion xo

All I know when I took Effexor was that I was sad and blue feeling trapped in my marriage. I got on Effexor, felt better and didn’t have a care in the world and proceeded with divorce plans. I do remember after some time my dosage had to be increased but it did what it was designed for. I enjoyed facing the day instead of wanting to hide from it.

Meg, I agree- especially a cardiologist prescribing them? I am not his usual client, either. I am young (for a cardiologist), skinny, and have low blood pressure…

He did pick up on that my kids and I probably have a dysautonomia, although he’s not the first doc to think that. Which is probably why my fight-or-flight is so out of whack.

I don’t get why Bat and I, if we are having physical symptoms of panic and anxiety only with dr. evil who we can demonstrate persistent emotional abuse, are continually forced into contact with him.

for-now, it sounds like you had classic feelings of depression and I am so glad that it helped you.

I don’t have a problem taking meds. But I think that taking meds 24/7 for something that is a problem for part of one day a week sounds silly. Xanax makes more sense because I can take it as needed, if it doesn’t make me too tired.

Cardiologist called me to make a follow-up appointment in a month. Damn, he’s going to know I didn’t follow his advice. Well, I am a grown up.

My daughter has panic attacks when he contacts her, too.

Well, picked up my crazy meds. They were only $15 total so I went ahead and picked up both. I am pissed as hell that he gets to drive me and my kids to all probably needing meds and we can’t do anything to protect ourselves from him. And then he sends me bullshit emails that he’s happier than he’s ever been in his life.

Bat has visitation this morning. The plan is that he is supposed to let dad know when things bug him and not stay until he’s fixing to pop a gasket and then come home and unloading on me. His therapist wants him to let dad know and see it that helps- ideally that is a healthier way of handling it. Anyway, we’ll see how it goes today.

Effexor is also really good for hot flashes I hear. I might change my Zoloft to Effexor 🙂 I have had great results with Xanax when needed. I take 0.5mg and in about 30 minutes I have calmed down. I think I took the last one the day of my son’s wedding. They did not make me sleepy, just calm. I realize we are all different but I have PAC’s too and there were times a. Few months ago that my heart was skipping beats like crazy and I was in a panic and the. Xanax was truly a life saver. I hope they help you too Teri.

I think xanax can be a wonder drug if you don’t take it all the time…

I know it is so damn maddening that after dealing with or while dealing these guys then we need drugs…

I got my scrip for Lunestra because I could not sleep…It does help.

I took half a xanax just to see. I feel a bit fuzzy-headed- my least favorite side effect of all time. Pharmacist said that that should diminish over time, though?

It will….you build up a tolerance for xanax. It is addictive and if you take all the time ( my mother) then it has to be increased ( dosage).

I wouldn’t try taking one unless you were truly about to be or are already stressed. maybe the upcoming stupid ass visitation is enough that you will be stressed and can tell what the xanax does when you are truly panicky?

Oh yeah…empty stomach will increase the effect. I know you can’t eat much but even some toast would help with the lightheaded stuff…

Thanks, Bev. Visitation is this morning, and I always feel a bit anxious when Bat is gone- mostly because I know there is going to be something as soon as he gets home, and he is often so tense and irritable. So most of the day is kind of a mess. So I thought it might be a good time to try it.

Luckily I didn’t have the constant phone calls from dad when we were a few minutes late. I sent him an email saying I considered his calling last week was harassment and with copy of the Texas Penal Code definition of Harassment. No response from him, of course. But no harassing calls this week.

The usual response from him is that he will try to turn that around on me sometime in the next few weeks- try to accuse me of harassing him. Gotta keep the score even.

I believe in God but I do not believe that God created that man. I just do not think it is possible. Maybe the wife of Satan spawned him. He needs his head checked for the 666 tattoo 🙂

I am only half way joking…..

    So half a Xanax helps…
Bat got back from visitation this afternoon and he said he and dr. evil went to breakfast, got in the car, and then dad decided to take Bat into Houston (hour away) to go to a museum.

Bat has asked repeatedly for at least 24 hr. notice for any changes in routine to help him get mentally prepared. I have asked. I have asked copa. She said she would tell dr. evil.

So Bat tells dad that he does not want to go. They only have a 4 hr visit anyway. One hour for breakfast, 2 hours driving, that leaves one hour at museum. Hardly seems worth the drive even.

But the main thing is Bat doesn’t want to go. He tells dad. Dad keeps driving. Bat keeps telling him to turn around. Dad keeps driving. Bat said they got all the way to Houston before he got it “through his head”, and dr. evil finally turned around and drove back.

Bat said dr. evil is holding him hostage so he has to stay longer for visitation.

So, yeah, I am pissed. But at least my heart isn’t racing. Or if it is, I don’t care?

God, I wish Bat and Angela had an agreement where Bat could call Angela right then and there when Dad isn’t complying.

Too bad Bat can’t fake a call to Angela, at least leave a real v/m while in the car.

I wonder what dipshits response to that would be then.

I had him email her as soon as he got home. But I call would be even better. He has this phobia of his cell phone. I have to call it mine that he borrows. He would use mine if I gave it to him, but I don’t want it to fall into dr. evil’s hands.

This poor kid. He is so ill-equipped for this. It’s so not fair.
