the title of my new book? actually, no.
THIS, actually happened today, via the most disgusting phone call from the father of my son’s BEST FRIEND at boarding school.
I dropped Aaron off at 68th and B’way in Manhattan and he and his best friend went to a movie and then back to his mom’s apartment. Cale was planning on picking him up later and bringing him back, on the train. But, at about 3:45, the phone rang and it was Aaron’s friend’s Dad, (the aforementioned, very famous film director who has a reputation for a hideous temper).
He was extremely agitated, and was shouting in my ear.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU SON DID???
(uhhh… noooo… i’m sitting here, working.)
I nicely told him to stop screaming in my ear and I forgot that this is a narc’s narc… and then, he began berating me, for daring to tell him to please turn the volume down a notch or ten. I told him, in true kick-ass-I-don’t-care-who-the-fuck-you-are-fashion (but without any profanity) that I am not to be talked to in this manner and he persisted to insult me, so I hung up on him.
Oh, it goes on… cause then, he told my son with autism that I’m an asshole.
yippppeeee… I’ve finally ARRIVED!!!!!!!!

Aaron told me later, that he told famous film director that he could fucking go to hell!
that’s my boy! (although, I did tell him that no matter what, he must not swear at anyone, especially any adults, because they will use it against you, even if you ARE right)
But, anyway, I was shaking for about an hour… Aaron was great, when he got home. The boys are still fast friends. The boys mom who is of course divorced from this maniac was mortified that her x behaved in this manner. she only communicates with him via text, unless its an emergency.
end of story. I hope.
unfortunately, I won’t be able to let Aaron into the city again, to hang with his best friend. Oh, and what egregious thing did Aaron do, to instigate this entire incident? There was a phone conference and while it was going on, he made his best friend laugh. I’m really not joking.
You can’t make this shit up.
His father, actually called me up from Los Angeles!!!

apparently, yes. but then, all of a sudden, my sorry excuse for a husband, didn’t seem so bad, by comparison.
and the anger abated.

in fact, his son backed my son up and said that his Dad was mean to my son and provoked him. hmmmmmm… then narc director chewed out his own son. Mom is furious. called the school.

He had a run in with George Clooney and called him a pussy.
George said, in an interview that he would never work with him again.
There is also a youtube video of him losing his rag with Lily Tomlin on a film set in front of an entire crew. And yes, my son has seen it and no, i wasn’t the one who told him about it.
Okay, here’s a couple more clews. And this one is really narrowing it down, if you haven’t already figured it out. 😉
He was nominated for an academy award earlier this year, for a movie starring Mark Wahlberg, who fought hard to have this guy direct this movie. Then, in an act of deep gratitude, the narc director betrayed Mark (his former BFF) on their next project by firing him and hiring a lesser known, less expensive actor.
Can we say— HELLwood?
The saga isn’t over as the boy’s mom is hoppin’ mad.
but… there’s more and its something quite extraordinary. My h wrote the most amazing email, to this guy. It was mature, well-thought out and a testament actually, to the fact that I am married to an extremely bright, articulate, thoughtful, insightful and yet hideously underachieving and low-self esteemed.
but, the point was, that he came to our defense, and for that much, I am most grateful. It brought tears to my eyes as this was the man I had married. A man who would defend his family and do the right thing, when push came to shove.
