Hallo Schwestern (Hello Sisters)
Just a note to let you know that I am having a wonderful time here in Germany. We are seven hours ahead from St. Louis, so it is 5:30pm here.
Today my daughter, Sarah, gave me a most wonderful gift. She has learned to play the violin as an adult and has become quite accomplished.
Today she took me to a small but beautiful church up in the hills that was built in the 1600’s. When we walked in all the candles were lit (just for me) and Sarah and two of her friends performed a private Baroque chamber music concert for me. I was moved to tears (I’m tearing up now just writing about it.)
Several pieces were done up in the balcony accompanied by the organ and then Sarah (on the right) and her friend, Krimhilde (in green) played a few pieces for me in front of the alter.
If you click on the photos they will enlarge.
The weather here is unbelievably beautiful. Tomorrow we are taking the train to Basel, Switzerland and will visit with my son. Maybe I can get Thomas to play his cello for me along with Sarah and her violin.
I do miss all of you, and check in periodically to see how all of you are doing. I will have tons of photos when I get back.
Love to all.
