ParticipantJoAnn,
Sorry to hear about these new health problems. I hope everything goes well Wednesday.I have developed HPV in the last few years resulting in serial abnormal paps. Note: I already had a hysterectomy 20 years ago. There is not much that can be done about the condition until it progresses to a more serious level, as in cancer. I pray that won’t happen.
My husband FINALLY acknowledged that he brought it home to me. My gosh – we’ve been married 37 years and I have never cheated on him!!!

ParticipantI developed HPV, too, a few years back, almost 20 years into my marriage. Abnormal tests, had my cervix frozen.
JoAnn, thinking of you and your health troubles. Take good care of yourself and try to keep yourself distracted so you don’t worry. Also be sure to let us know how it all goes. Take care.

ParticipantJoAnn,
Praying that the biopsies come back normal, if they do them, and the LEEP is a success with no complications at all. I know you’ve been through the wringer. Hopefully you can rest and recharge for a while.
Yes, stress affects the immune system, and chronic stress leads to general adaptation syndrome, which slowly destroys the interaction between the brain and hormones that normally protect and regulate all our body systems. Chronic stress will one day be considered as bad as some diseases, I believe. It is a killer, same as heart disease or cancer. The body cannot overcome and return to homeostasis once you cross a certain continued load of stress hormones. We were only supposed to need those stress hormones in emergency situations, and then return to normal for longer periods of time to recover. Tissues start to disintegrate without the normal cycles of damage/repair/regrowth. How long do we partners of SAs get to return to normal between “incidents”? A more realistic question is does anything ever return to healthy and normal again?
Also, hope, vision and purpose have a real place in our health. Every one of us knows the SA experience gives you a kick in the ass as far as that goes. You don’t know what in the world you can honestly hope for from day to day.
It’s just criminal, I agree, to place another human blindly into this situation for your own gain. When they are discovered, the humane thing to do would be for them to simply apologize and LEAVE, get their ass fixed (whether through treatment, a penisectomy, a lobotomy, I don’t care), and only come back if they’ve become human enough to have a real relationship if both people agree it’s best.
JoAnn, you deserved better. Love and hugs and prayers for you.

ParticipantThanks Teri,
I also had my cervix frozen (wasn’t that fun?) in 2003. All of my pap smears have been normal since then, until 2010.
My doctors say there can only be two reasons that this has resurfaced.
One…stress caused my immune system to break down and the virus came back.
Or.
Two…I was reinfected.
Either way it’s fucking Larry’s fault.

ParticipantLarry doesn’t know how to love you but we do.
Okay, there may be a few boundaries, but….our love is powerful thing. Trust it. We are all over you like like a wet cold.

ParticipantDear dear JoAnn, how much more to endure. You are such an amazing woman.

MemberGood luck at the doctor Joann. I’m hoping all of this ends up being minor and no major surgeries involved. I had the LEEP surgery in 2010. Been fine since.
I’m wishing good news about the mammo biopsy.
Even when these assholes are gone, they’re still not gone.

ParticipantThank goodness you keep up on your appointments. I hope it all turns out ok. And I hope larry gets some nasty, ulcerating, festering penis dissolving std.
We should all be diligent about our annual appointments. Being married to an sa is unhealthy in every way. I feel like I’ve aged 10 years in 2 years time.
Gosh all the time, money, frustration, fear, anger, and embarrassment we spend on them is like drano in our systems. This really needs to stop.
i hope sasha is ok too 🙁 how do you get rid of ferrel cats? Can you trap them in a have-a-heart trap and take them to the humane society? (I do this with raccoons, except I drown them. Only the obnoxious ones who cause trouble)
April 17, 2013 at 3:34 pm #86829liza
ParticipantHeidi, too bad you don’t have a man-sized trap. 🙂
