This was truly one of the most powerful things I have done for my healing since discovery. I met the most incredible women; so different from me, but so many similar feelings and experiences. It made me feel less alone.

Some of the highlights for me were making a trigger map and starting to lessen the impact that the triggers have on me. Unfortunately I burned images of women my husband was with in my mind (I still have copies of the picture collection), so much that I can access any of those pictures in a second in my mind- but I started the process of lessening their impact….through some empowerment work….and it is helping

Another highlight is the physical peace that I found – It is really amazing; I have held so much tension in my neck for almost 2 years, and despite massage (which is a trigger for me) and trying to relax, nothing gave me as much relief as sharing and feeling from a different place. My body is feeling so much better- lighter…

Learning about the Sex Addiction Induced Perpetration Model was so validating. I have been to ISH and worked with Omar and Trish several times, but sitting in the room and being taken through each aspect of the model and realizing how abused I had been was so validating. And, I was given hope on being more whole again…

Coming home has been hard – leaving the comfort of the women and staff…but I feel so happy to have gone.

That’s it for now..I need to still decompress! Wishing you all love and strength!

Lisa, here’s an article from ISH’s website re: SAIP to tide you over. 🙂

I’m so glad it was a powerful experience for you. I remember wanting to hold the week close when I got back. I was afraid I would forget, but I haven’t. It is amazing to come away with such clarity. ISH has really got it right.

Barbra I’m so pleased the week was helpful. I felt so sad when I left ISH for the last time and all the women went their separate ways. I had even become attached to my hotel room. It was my sanctuary. It was horrible to leave and face the world on my own but I was also incredibly empowered. I hope you feel that way too. xo
