MemberWonderful comments, Teri.
Claire, I am glad to,heat you are headed towards divorce and I completely understand your priorities. Your health on every level is #1.
I long for you to be free. And, I respect that only you know the steps to take and in what order. Set backs are real. Honor your truth. I am so glad you have financial stability while you go through this nightmare. You deserve that.
Vent, vent, vent.
Much love,

MemberClaire I understand. You can clean the tar off but it keeps coming back. My suggestion is to breathe, ground yourself and go on as you had before you got the letter. Whatever happens to him has no consequence for you and your animals. Enjoy your own company in the space which has become your own. xo

MemberClaire, my heart skipped a beat in jubilation reading about the denial. I sure as hell hope this means jail time is a’coming pronto. Crossing fingers and toes that you’ll find out soon. Big hugs. xoxo

MemberI might know more by next week. He came by this evening to pick up more tools he needed for a job he’s doing in the morning. I asked him about the letter and what was going to happen. He said that he is in the process of writing his appeal letter, that his therapist and psychiatrist are submitting letters on his behalf that he will submit with it. He said he will tell them that he’s been attending 12 step meetings for 3 years and plans to continue, that he was diagnosed with PTSD and that was part of his problem, that he takes the recommended medications prescribed by his psychiatrist, blah, blah, blah. (he has himself convinced that his PTSD is the cause of everything wrong in his life).
Naturally I had to interrupt his praising of himself to ask the big “what if” question. What if he doesn’t win the appeals process. He lowered his voice so much that I could barely hear him as he said “then I go to jail”.
He looks pathetic. Thin, pale, he had his shirt tucked in but he missed a loop with his belt, his hair was a mess. He looks like he can’t decide if he wants to shave his face or not. Kind of looks like he’s trying to grow his mustache back, but hard to tell, and frankly I don’t care.
It’s getting so much easier to detach and not feel sorry for him anymore.
It’s just sad, though. What a waste of the man he could have been.

ParticipantIt is a tragic case of a human being squandered. They all are.

ParticipantIf only they’d stuck to squandering their own lives without robbing their wives and children of theirs.
