Update after long absence

Hi sisters

Sorry for my long absence. I felt I needed a break as I was becoming consumed by all the overwhelming feelings regarding my ex’s SA. Anyway, I’m back and thought I’d update you on the happenings in my world!

The last time I posted, I had told you I was scared about when my ex h received the divorce papers as I was worried he would react aggressively when he saw that I had cited his SA and more specifically the recent discovery of his visitation to massage parlours. In the event, matters were taken out of my hands. I only found out he had been served on the day he got the papers, so there was no time for my parents to come down to be with me. He rang that evening to ask a legal question regarding the documents and informed me that he didn’t dispute anything in the petition. You could have knocked me over with a feather! I suspect this is because a) he can’t afford to dispute it! and b) he is planning to move in with his girlfriend and can’t afford for her to see the petition, so signing it and getting it out of his flat asap is the best bet! Either way, it made the process far smoother for me, so that is great. As regards the comment I made about his living arrangements, he told me he could no longer afford to rent the flat he currently lives in (surprise, surprise……wonder where all his money is going?) and would have to give up the tenancy at the end of the lease (End of September). I enquired if he would be renting a new place or moving in with ‘her’. He said they were discussing it. After he returned from a weeks holiday with my sons and ‘her’ he informed me that he would be moving in with ‘her’ and that the boys were fine about it. I was concerned as it is her house and was afraid they would never feel as ‘at home’ as they did at their dad’s place. Time will tell. It should be interesting to see how long it is before she notices him returning late from work, staying up late at night etc etc etc.

I went to the court today to swear that the affidavit regarding my divorce petition is true. It should now be about 4 weeks until I get my decree nisi. I finally feel as though things are moving forward. As ex is moving in with his girlfriend, he needs to disclose her income on the financial disclosure form too. (Bet she’ll be pleased about that!) Also, as he is living there, his housing needs are met, so hopefully that should increase my chances of getting a larger share of the equity in the house.

It’s my birthday today and I’m celebrating by having a get together for my friends, my boys and my lovely new man tonight. One of my boys has even said he’ll bake me a cake and two of his friends want to help him! Not bad for a bunch of 12/13 year old boys!!! I’m a lucky lady.
