    Hi sisters,

I have been lurking a little and posting occasionally. Have been trying to live my new life to the fullest. It is always nice to know all of you are here with so much wisdom.

Today, I sold the my car. A car SA RAT bought with me. While it was a great car, it carried memories of him and what he did to our family. It. Is. Gone.

Already bought another car to tow behind our motorhome. In about one week, sweet BF and I will set off for 3 months of traveling. We will go from Oregon to Colorado and then to California. Family and mountains are what we seek.

The good news – is that my three grown sons will have nothing to do with SA RAT. The not so good news is that all of us would benefit from therapy and nobody is getting it now. I do believe the recent news in the media is helping everyone paying attention understand these issues better. Dr. Drew definitly needs to change his tune that “marriages can be stronger” after blah, blah, blah. Get a grip Pinsky.

Processing about the car. Letting it go is stirring my emotions and all the betrayals.

    Thanks for being here,
    Desiree

You’ve come through so much, Desiree! You sold you beloved home. That must have been awful. You now have sold another reminder of your SA RAT. You are doing so much to free yourself of painful reminders. I hope you have a wonderful 3 months of traveling!

THANKS ALI. YOUR WORDS BRING TEARS TO MY EYES.

Feels like my family is healing even without therapy. They have just excluded the fake out SA from there life. Zap. Gone. I am so, so relieved.

Desiree, it’s kind of like a snake shedding its skin only you are the skin shedding the snake! 🙂 I am glad you are moving forward and getting rid of reminders of the grim past. So glad that you and “sweet BF” are doing well and getting ready for an adventure together. It’s always good to hear good news from the other side of the swamp. You deserve every happiness that comes your way.

    Love,
    Daisy

I’m with the whole journey metaphor, Desiree. Get on the road and suck him up your tailpipe!

You have done a lot of big things and painful things. Take a break. You and your family will do what needs to be done when the time is right.

    Believing in you, sister

    Desiree,

The trip sounds wonderful. It’s a great time of year to head to the mountains. And nature does wonders in restoring the soul.

I hate that even as you remove them from your life, that process can stir the emotions back up again.Wouldn’t it be great if they could be gone for good? I’m glad your sons are supporting you and have seen through the RAT. That is HUGE.

Take care and have a great time on your adventure with you BF!

Thanks for the update, Desiree. I love hearing positive things happen post-SA trauma. You sound so good & so strong. I think traveling and spending time with your sons is your therapy right now. Yes, it’s good for everyone to go but sometimes there are other ways to work out your feelings & emotions. Have an awesome time on your travels with your “sweet BF”!

Desiree, when i think back to where you were and how you felt when you first arrived here…..you have done a 180. The trip is a wonderful idea. There are other ways to heal besides therapy. Not saying it may not be useful at some point but everything else you are doing is very useful too. Let go of EVERYTHING connected to him that you can and then see what is left to deal with in therapy. In the meantime, have a safe and peaceful trip and do pop in and let us know how you are. Your kids will be ok…if they know enough to avoid him they are way ahead of the game. I’m not making light. I know the price these men make their families pay.
    Hugs, Karen

Desiree, that is such great news. And selling the car is a huge thing.. It really is. Don’t stress too much about therapy right now. Just have a wonderful trip, and wishing you all the continued happiness in the world. xoxo

Thanks everyone for your well wishes as you navigate your own way out of SA messes. May you all find your own form of freedom.

We have been shopping for, packing and fixing our motorhome for about a month now. We depart in a day or two. I feel fully supported by SOS to live my new life. Now that is some good therapy!

I find I am so patient when things take longer than planned (always) or something new goes wrong (daily?) – I think (frequently) If this is the worst thing that happens all day, sign me up!

After all the bad things that have happened in my life, so much of everything else seems minor. This correlates well with, “Don’t sweat the small stuff”. Think that may be a little silver lining and gift out of the SA RAT tragedy.

I am taking Diane’s book with me and will savor every line!

Will stay in touch and send freedom vibes your way,
    Desiree
