ParticipantBev, Just saw on Anderson Cooper “keeping them honest” last night that under pressure from the NRA, funding for keeping gun stats has been slashed so much that there is no reliable data about gun violence and gun control laws. Groups try to do the best they can (for whatever their agenda is, usually) with what little there is, but the data is not reliable- there is not enough for it to be dependable one way or another. That’s why you here each side giving stats that are diametrically opposed. Just FYI, that’s the AC story.

ParticipantAnd…wait a minute, hold on…drum roll, please…..
I watched a news story and remembered it! It has been a good 16 months since I have been able to do that!!!! It is not all SA, all the time!February 1, 2013 at 1:41 am #74216972
MemberWell, if you can deny that gun laws in the south side of Chicago are not he toughest on the books ( or DC for that matter) and you tell me that gun violence is not the worst in those two cities then I will talk to AC myself.

MemberGlad you were interested in a non SA issue 🙂
And ,for the record, I don’t give a shit if they ban every gun everywhere ….It won’t solve anything and it won’t bother me.

ParticipantNot a problem, Bev. It’s just all over the news with the hearings, so I thought it was interesting because if you just listen to the politicians, both sides’ statistics can’t be right. It’s crazy-making to try to listen to them. I don’t know if AC is right about it all either. But it helped clarify at least some of the confusion. That’s the most I have come up for air, so I guess I am making progress.
So the brain fog does start to clear, everyone. And you are seeing proof right here, right now live, in the middle of Natale’s thread.

ParticipantNatale no one here wants to be right. You really tried and there is no fault in that. You sound grounded and strong and clear. I have been thinking about you ~ and those babies.
Karen – how do you get rid of sick raccoons that hiss at you? I love my gun for that! If they banned guns tomorrow there will still be a million of them out there, and a black market to boot. Guns aren’t the problem, mental health is. If we spent as much money on early intervention of mental health issues as we do defending gun control maybe we could prevent some future sa shit. And shootings.
…If I were queen for a day…February 2, 2013 at 1:58 am #74222teri
ParticipantMaybe we should just shoot the mentally ill people 🙂
Did I go too far? I just couldn’t pass up that set up…

MemberNatale- in Texas a law (or Bill, not sure which) was recently passed in 2011 I believe that waives the 60 day waiting period for divorces to be final once an act of family violence occurs.
You might want to see if your state has something similar. It could help expedite things for you.
